How to Measure a Bow Height
Check the Bow Height Measurement BEFORE removing the old Top from your customer’s car.
How to measure the Bow Height - Type A:
- Locate the bottom center of the existing Glass or Plastic Rear Window Section where it meets the inner edge of the belt molding.
- Place a yardstick or metal ruler flat against the rear window so one end rests against the inner top edge of the rear finish molding, and measure to the middle (not the edge) of the rear bow.
- The Bow Height measurement you have taken should not vary more than 1/2 inch from the figure listed in our Catalog. If the measurement is off more than 1/2 inch, reset the rear bow to the correct height before installation or the top and/or rear window will not fit correctly. Resetting the bow height in many cases requires replacing the bow pads/straps.
How to measure the Bow Height - Type B:
- Locate the bottom center of the existing Glass or Plastic Rear Window Panel where it meets the bottommost point of the floating rail.
- Place a yardstick or metal ruler flat against the rear window so one end meets the bottom most point of the floating rail, and measure to the middle (not the edge) of the rear bow.
NOTE: Existing non-elastic pads/bow-straps that are more than 2 years old should be replaced before installing a new convertible top.
Elastic bow-straps and pads/tension straps with integrated elastic should always be replaced before installing a new convertible top. Degraded elastic often results in cuts or holes in convertible tops.
