The Windows
Robbins SL Series 129 Mercedes tops include 3 sewn in windows using our precise patterns and specifications to exactly reproduce the original top. Includes vinyl piping around the rear windows like the original.3 clear plastic windows are sewn into the convertible top for strength and durability. The windows are made from 50 gauge press polished vinyl for excellent clarity. Made in Oxnard CA our state of the art factory is staffed by highly experienced craftsmen.
The Materials
Haartz Stayfast - Good - Great for a tight budget. Formerly specified over many decades for OE applications Stayfast is Haartz standard replacement topping which is a three-ply composite of an acrylic square weave facing, rubber inner-layer, and cotton backing. Most colors available with black inner lining and some available with tan inner lining.
Haartz Twillfast lV – Better - Haartz enhanced Twillfast® offering with twill weave facing, elastomer inner-layer, and refined Polyester dobby backing. Most colors available with black inner lining and some available with tan inner lining.
Haartz German A5 – Best - Haartz standard Sonnenland® topping with acrylic twill weave facing, rubber inner-layer, and polyester dobby backing. Some version of the Haartz German A5 has been used on the modern Audi's, BMW's, Bentley's, Porsche's, Daimler's and more. If your budget is flexible this is the material, you want.

FEATURES From 1990-1994 the Mercedes 300-600SL convertible top design included a buckle in the window section that was attached with elastic and screwed to the frame. From 1995 and up, Mercedes replaced this design due to damaging the convertible top. Mercedes removed the buckle and used a combination of elastic and canvas instead. Robbins 1990 thru 2002 Mercedes-Benz SL convertible soft tops use this new design.

Mercedes Benz Service Bulletins 77/26A and 77/39 have been issued describing abrasion, pinching, cuts, holes, tearing and other damage to the topping and seams in the front top section and rear window assembly; as well as fraying, creasing and breaking of plastic windows caused by the top frame and body components. Robbins cannot be held responsible for damage to our products caused by problems described above therefore we can offer NO WARRANTY AGAINST creasing or cracking of plastic windows 2042R Tops or 3152R Rear Window Assemblies.
